“Good new always, mailed & delivered free, every time.”
The longest published, most widely read, community-based magazine in the
western suburbs of Allegheny County, since 1999.
With a focus on positive, local news, Allegheny West Magazine publishes four unique editions. Each edition is mailed into every home and business in a different school district. Between each of its four editions, the publication direct mails approximately 45,000 copies every cycle. The West Allegheny edition is published and distributed on the even months of the year, while the Moon and Montour editions are published and distributed on the odd months. Cornell is published quarterly. As part of their respective editions, the magazine publishes the official school newsletters for the Montour, West Allegheny and Cornell school districts.
Allegheny West Magazine was founded by Imperial resident Pat Jennette as a spin-off of her company, which provides public relations and marketing services to school districts and small businesses. Over the years, the magazine grew to distribute well over 30,000 copies across numerous communities, thanks in large part to support from local businesses.
In January of 2014, the magazine transitioned ownership to Jennette’s assistant editor of nearly two years, Doug Hughey. A West Allegheny graduate, Hughey is also an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh and holds a master of fine arts from Emerson College. Before coming to work for Jennette, Hughey contributed to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s forum and op-ed sections. He now runs the magazine with his wife, Sarah, a graduate of Montour, Pitt and Harvard University
